Just a thought, but did the batteries ever get a "equalization" charge during the time in use ?
yes they did: He said "Intella power 9200"
the 9200 will charge them up, then once it goes into float, it counts down about 20 hours, then it does a short (like 15 minutes) equalization run.
My interstates were 9 years old, and had been abused (overly discharged) when I replaced them earlier this year. I have a 9180 with wizard (equal to the 9280 which has the wizard built in)
So they got equalization charges for 15 minutes every 20 hours.
NOTE: New, I had to add water... Annually.
I think Dakota was referring to a REAL equalizing... not the pseudo-equalization that comes on many of the new converters and portables. If the PD's 14.4v was a real EQ, then solar controllers set to their 14.8v setting would be "over equalizing" up to 14 hours per day. :)
