Any advocate out there recommending this kind lady continue to use 5% antimony batteries please chime in, I would love to hear your rationale...
Battery -types- involve tradeoffs. High antimony batteries trade increased maintenance for cyclability durability. A single good quality AGM battery would fulfill all of the requirements in this application and by nature be longer lived and render more service for the dollar.
To me, plugging-in should mean total freedom from battery chores. In other words, walk by the battery monitor once a week and make sure the charger is working. I would like to see a battery under these circumstances last 10 years without so much as 10 minutes of maintenance. But it's up to the OP as to what she wants.
