I've seen several TCs with the vent just outside the bath door. They had a small gap at the top of the door. Will work.
The issue might be making sure the fan is off before flushing. You may want to put a second fan power switch in the wall inside the bath so you can switch it off just before the flush.
Turning it off will become second nature real quick. You'll only have to forget a couple of times. I speak from experience.
