but those numbers don't match the users who say they can charge 55mps from a PD55 using a 1000w honda
I'm now using a PF corrected prosine 2.0 (I consider this temporary because it sounds like they all die young). My 800 VA generator maxed out at about 30 amps charging with the PD converter. With the prosine it will do 40 amps.
I agree with your assesment. My honda 200 will run the PD60 at 60 A at sea level with some margin, not much and very little margin at altitude.
And a friend with a honda 1000 and a PD45 has trouble with the generator in boost mode on a low battery, trips the generator out and will need to go out of boost mode for a while to not overload the 1000
