Sorry, I did not see where the OP asked, "What is the quietest generator to run a converter?"
Before the sound police get too involved, have you actually ever heard a Honda 2000i at maximum output. It ain't exactly silent. My Champion at 68db is hardly noticeable running in the back of my pickup while parked at a truck stop on the way to a nice quiet campground that provides the same 30 amps as my generator. I have tried many generators in the last forty years and none are silent. I know it is popular to jump on the anti-Champion bandwagon but for many of us they provide good economical practical reliable power.
Sorry I didn't mean to be rude. And you are right a honda at wide open throttle is noisy. However the fact that the honda can lower rpm according to load level really helps.
I do acknowledge that larger generators are great for multiple heavy loads like AC and whatever else is needed.
It is just in my experience in provincial park campgrounds with no power hookups, open frame generators are obnoxious. I cant even hear my honda until I am walking on my campsite, whereas I can hear a champion anywhere in the park.
Call me sound police, but I am only 29 years old and fairly tolerant. Whats worse than generators of all kinds though is children screaming all day.
