How do I tell what AMP rating my alternator is?

I have a 98 Thor on a F53 chassis.
I have looked through all the paper work and manuals i have.
Can not find any were it talks about the alternator.
Its either going to be a 95 or 130 amp, those are the only ones i find on the auto parts web sites.

Thanks
Jeff

  • Why do you need to know ? If its able to handle the load its given, most couldn't care less.
Me, I like to know how many amps everything is putting out at any given time.
I have an amp meter on everything, including the alternator and converter and solar.
I've seen 130+ many time on the v-10 alternator ammeter, when starting after a nite of hard draw on the house batteries.
  • i will try the mirror trick...

    and VIN to ford..

    will post update

    Thanks
  • have ford dealer run OASIS report or give ford VIN to a ford truck parts dealer....

Can be determined off the alternator plate and case stamping too,
  • Never seen a F53 460 with a 95 amp alternator. I think all F53 MHs with 460 came with 130 amp. My 95 F53 460 came from the factory with 130 amp. My Ford owners manual only calls for 130 amp.

  • Usually stamped on the alternators metal housing somewhere along with the brand and model number. Because it is embossed it is easy to miss.
