How easy to remove/replace entry door?

Going to replace absorption fridge w/residential measuring 24" wide. Door is 24 1/8" wide. Reckon I can get it through? If not, how difficult to remove door frame and replace/reseal?

  • Our Samsung came in thru a window cutout. Remove the complete window, frame and all not the door frame. It is much lighter and easier to handle and to reinstall.
  • I would try to find a shallower model- that's going to stick out a lot- more if the rear requires clearance.
  • No, even with the doors removed they say it is over 25" deep. The 24" wide dimension seems to be the best I can do.
  • When the delivery people brought a new fridge to our sticks and bricks it would not fit the entrance to the house so they took the doors off the fridge and it slipped through easily. It did not look like it was that hard to do and the procedure was outlined in the new fridge manual. I think this would be the easier route and reduce the weight of the unit coming in.
  • We replaced ours after a parked school bus jumped out and bit it.

Was not difficult at all, just a lot of screws to remove and the door came out in a pre hung unit.

Needed new sealer to re install, so have some on hand.

    Remove the doors ?
  • Don't think sideways will work, fridge is 25 1/2" deep. Will check out escape window; don't think it's that big though.
  • You should be able to make it- often sideways is easiest. If not, entrance door is not difficult to R&R, just time consuming, depending on interior trim. It's a lot of cleaning of caulk to make the reinstall "pretty".
  • Our motorhome has a large escape window in the bedroom. We were able to open that and take out the Dometic Fridge and bring in the residential fridge through it. Took two strong people - but was the simplest way of doing it.
