How many hours on Onan Generator? Need help asap!

My Onan generator died. A new one is about 6K installed. I found a used one that supposedly has 200 hours on it, but no hour meter. Is there a way to determine how many hours are on the unit? It had a...

I've ran 4000W. construction generators 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for a couple years with no problem. You've got to think, why would the guy keep the genny if he thought it wasn't in good condition? I would probably go for it...
