I bought one of these Harbor Freight utility pumps a few years ago. It has a Stainless steel housing so the impeller is about the only thing that can fail with the pump part. I think it pumps about 5gal/minute with small head distance (3 ft), using a 25' hose.
If you could connect the inlet side with either your system drain or the fresh water tank output, you can attach a hose and direct the output any where you choose.
I don't have a horse in this race since I have the old air-over-water with a pressure tank. I have a cap on the exterior that's removed and a 1 1/2" pipe opening or a conventional hose fitting that's used for city water. In the event the small compressor fails, I have another 12V air compressor to pressurize the tank. If that fails, there is a Schrader valve on the fill cap so I can go to a truck stop to use their air hose and pressurize the tank. I like this system since once the tank is pressurized, the pump doesn't run very time you draw water.
For those with conventional City water/fresh water tank systems, would it be possible to install a tee in the city inlet, a valve, and a tee into the pump inlet pipe? That way you could open the valve and fill the fresh water tank if connected to city water.
