The photo shows a pair of co-ax connections at the rear of our TT. The one marked cable is the incoming cable connection from the CG. There is another pair on the curb side with the same labels. (Gotta love the use of an elegant cheapo label-maker.)
The CATV has either a 3-way splitter inside somewhere or a couple of 2-way splitters. Does the sat. co-ax cable have a splitter(s) also with the one at rear of TT being the input from the dish? That's the part I don't understand yet.
With one of the exterior co-ax connections being the input from the dish, I guess we'd need a receiver at or near each TV? There is definitely no place for a receiver in the bedroom and will be next to impossible to find space in our living/seating area. Only easy place seems to be on the dinette table which would mean a co-ax hanging down from the ceiling and an HDMI (or component or composite) from the receiver up to the TV. Could have it on top of the kitchen cabinets at the rear of our TT but would involve running cables back to the TV.
We have 6 TVs at home with sat. There are 2 Dish "Dish Network Dish Pro Plus DPP44 Switch with Power Inserter" like in the 2nd photo. Surely we don't need one of these? I can't see ever watching sat. TV in the bedroom or outside so can we just run a co-ax cable from the dish directly to the sat. co-ax connection on the ceiling in the living area?
Our receivers at home are good for HD and non-HD channels and for recording. We'd simply borrow one of them while away on a camping trip.
Since our sat service provider is in Canada, we'd only be watching sat TV while camping in Canada (wink, wink). We always tape our fav shows at home and skip the commercials - it's the only way to go... We only camp at FHU sites so the max. we're without 120 volts is the duration of a drive.
