Suggested upgrade path: Two new 6V GC2 golf cart batteries (they have the same footprint as a grp 24 so if you can add another battery, you can fit them). These can be purchased at Costco, Sams club, or at a golf cart distributor. They should cost less than or slightly more than $200.
If you are traveling and staying at a campground with power every few days, your onboard converter will recharge the batteries. If you travel for a day to another spot without power, you may accumulate enough charge through your vehicle to stay another night. For protracted boondocking, you'll need to find a way to charge the batteries.
The 6 V golf cart batteries will be the most forgiving of any type if you do run them down too far.
