How to reattach D shape slide seal

Today I noticed that one of my inside slide seals is coming loose. The channel it attaches to is missing a staple on the end and loose also. I will staple the channel back in place but have had no luck installing the seal. It looks like this seal. I'm trying to snap it in place but it keeps coming undone further and further. Should I be able to snap it back on over the channel or will I need to remove the entire seal and slide it over the channel? The seal came loose after it stuck to the slide. I've treated the seals and they no longer stick.

  • You need to pull the seal all the way out then slide it back in from the end. It helps to have a helper while one pulls on the seal and the other feeds it into the grove.
  • silicone seal - always carry a tube with you for just that
  • After I got the channel stapled back in place, I was able to get the seal snapped back into the channel.
  • Sections of my 12 yo seals have pulled away from the fiberglass. I glued them using Elmer's super something.. it's a brownish liquid that really holds.
  • I don't think I will need a new seal, but if I do it wont be from ebay. That was just just the first picture I found to link for a visual ad to the type of seal I had. Thanks
  • Dunno if you're going to need a new seal, but I wouldn't be getting one off Ebay. Try http://parkin-acc.com or the Uni-grip company.
