I woudl take this cance to UPGRADE to an LED lamp. If you do this then the actuall wattage is not as important as too ms socket failure...
A 1156 LED equivalent (Single contact bayonet type) draws like 2.5 watts,, not a whole lot of heat there. if it's single contact, should fit, lots of light.
