Instead of a spring pushing up a bakelite plate with a pair (?) of brass contact pins showing, some manufacturers use a solid rubber plug for tension.
Is there a number on the base of the light bulb?
Is this lamp dimmable? A make-or-break question if LED replacement bulbs are considered.
Are there 2 contacts on the underneath base of the bulb?
Usually twin contact bulbs with the metal socket pins straight across from each other are a type of old-fashioned interior dome light bulb.
I strongly recommend nOT going to a chain Auto Parts store for advice: They start by asking make and model, number of cylinders and what engine size. Go to your local independent auto parts store to save your sanity.
