If I couldn't loosen the bolt by turning with an impact, or a couple raps with a hammer, and heat didn't loosen things up, then I'd cut the top of the bolt off and drill out the center and drive what's left out with a hammer and punch.
IMO severe hammering seems unwise. You could end up bending the shaft or breaking something.
