Doug, I've been told two different things from knowledgeable people. One is even though LCI calls it a shear bolt, it won't shear because a clutch or breaker will stop the slide's travel before there is enough pressure to shear. Thw other is that it absolutely does shear because people have had it happen. I've had it happen with LCI landing jacks, but while that uses the same type of cross arm, it's a much simpler system than this. One thing I do know is it is unlikely to shear if a shanked bolt is put through the shaft. There is almost no play with the shank portion whereas there is considerable play with a fully threaded bolt.
This became a problem for me when the slide awning hung up stopping the slide from moving out. Had the bolt sheared, it probably would not have jumped the track and it would have been a quick fix.
I have only replaced about 2 dozen of those mechanisms. They are NOT shear bolts. They are MOUNT bolts for that flange gear assbly. Keystone DID NOT install it. NO OEM installs them. It comes as a complete assbly and is then welded to the frame. You MUST lift the slide to release the force on that assbly. I have NEVER had a problem getting that nut OFF and the shank bolt to pull out. Doug
This should be the part you need.
