Actually, that model does not need 12 volt power- other than the reignitor. It is a purely mechanical model, combo thermostat, manual switch over, no electronics, other than reignitor. I have the 6 cu/ft version of this on my back porch for hurricanes- hook a 12 volt drill battery to it to light, then it's fine with no pwer.
The light in mine requires 12v.
