How to Work Hydro-Flame BRC10 Controls? Update #2
Updated 25 Jan and Update #2 on 28 Jan
--------------
I have a BRC10 furnace in the 1981 camper we just got that I don't know how to operate. I have read a few articles on the web about it but need more help please.
Here are the mystery controls:
I don't know which way is on or off! I found "pilot" at about South West with the knob depressed, and with it pushed in can a get a pilot flame. Wait 1 minute and let go per instructions, but flame goes out.
RV guy said the thermocouple by the pilot flame needs to get hot and said the pilot flame should make a noise (Not mine! Silent blue at bottom, yellow on top, not reaching right over to the thermocouple but goes fairly high.) He said to leave the BBQ lighter flame on the thermocouple as well as the pilot flame to help get it hotter. Works! Now can let go and pilot stays lit for a short time then it goes out. Rats.
I see it says "pilot adjust" on it. I need a bigger pilot flame I think. How do you do that?
Next step is wait for 3 minutes and turn the furnace to "on" Problem is A. before that time , there is a click and the flame goes out. and
B. Which way around is on? The instructions say just turn it on, no mention depressing the knob. Do you depress it?
I did get the main burner to light for a nano-second somehow twiddling the knob, but the flame quickly died. Wasn't any roar like with the water heater when it gets going. Is there a proper setting for the white button for all this starting part?
Thanks for any help! I have never worked with gas things that have pilot flames before. Of course the furnace is not exactly new.
