HWH front jacks

For some reason my front jacks won't retract when hot. This is when I have been on the road all day and the engine and everything is at operating temperatures. After everything cools down they go up fine. the rear ones will go up hot or cold. Has anyone else experienced that?

  • Pirate, Yes I got in a couple campsites and wasn't quite happy with the place I was in so I thought I would move, that is how I found out I couldn't until everything cooled off. Not a big deal as long as they came up after they cooled off! lol
  • I have a different type of jacks but I noticed my rear one on the left has a heat shield on it to protect it from the exhaust heat.
Mine is an older unit and the control panel died so I made up a new panel and now I can raise or lower each jack individually or together. It is nice to have that choice. Good luck Doug
  • My last F-53 1997 did that. Never could figure it out. Learned real quick not to put down front jacks until I was sure where I wanted to be for the night.
  • Talk to HWH customer service. Depending on where you are, their factory may be fairly close to you, enough for a visit to their service dept. They are in Moscow, Iowa.
  • Thanks for the comment j-d. On ours they will lift in pairs as you stated ( L-R or
F-R) but when they retract it is both front or both rears, can't do the sides on retract (wish I could as it would make leveling easier!) It is a joystick control. The heat definitely is the reason but they used to work OK and nothing has changed heat wise that I can see. There must be a restriction or sticky valve that is causing it when they are hot?

That hasn't happened to me, but I wonder... Too close to Exhaust?

On our HWH system, jacks operate in pairs. Both fronts, both rears, both rights, both lefts. I take it they don't retract when you command it to Retract Front. What happens if you ask it to Retract Right? Retract Left? Might give you a chance to see how it operates when different control signals are sent to the valves.
