HWI Level system warning went on while driving

I'll tell ya this season has been full of stuff going wrong with our motorhome. I check it over, the local RV shop checks it over and so has Freightliner. Now the hyd leveling system is acting up. Work great at Haas Lake camping. On the way home the alarm went on. Shows the right rear jack was down. I stopped and there was nothing wrong. I then deployed the jack then stored. It was OK for a few mins then it did it again. I went out this morning and I could not get them to deploy. My question is......can a bad battery cause this problem. I change the house batteries 3 years ago. Then engine batteries are the ones that came with the vehicle 7 years ago when we purchased the coach. Which battereis are used for the leveling system? I think it's a HWI system....I'll have to check. Thanks in adavnce for any help.

Happy Camping, still loving it. Bye Dennis

You do not wait for the answer on the down Jack light coming on. Since it is not Auto Level, you have the 300 series system. That system, EVERYTIME you start the chassis engine you MUST PUSH THE STORE BUTTON on the HWH dash pad. That puts the system in sleep mode. The 300 series systems, the road heat can cause the fluid in the Lines to expand slightly and will extend a jack slightly. This is enough to trigger the Down light. When you push store and the system is in sleep mode, IF this happens, the system wakes up and opens the Jack solenoids to allow the springs to quickly retract the offending jack. This will all happen before the dash alarm has time to sound. The system then goes back to sleep. Doug

  • 1. There is not set rule on which Battery Bank powers the Jack system
    2. IF HWH, the touch pad at the dash will state HWH. It will also state AUTOMATIC LEVELING or NOT. The correct answer to if Auto leveling or Not is important to your Jack down light coming on. IF the Batteries are 7 years old you need to replace regardless as a maintenance issue.
    3. Yes, a Bad battery or bad cable connections can cause the jacks to not operate. Doug
