One more question, I was advised to get the remote for my Magnum hybrid inverter as one can start and stop from inside, very handy, It also monitors batteries etc but I already have the Tri Metric that does that. It also can set up different programs re inverting and charging, but do I really need this? I intend getting a Honda IS 3000 generater with electrical start and have read that some instal in front of pickup. Can this be started with remote control? I have got 4-6V 260A batteries and 600W of solar on roof for off grid purposes. Any comments and recommendations appreciated.
Frank.
The remote itself doesn't do much, you can adjust some charging and operational settings. The remote also networks with the generator start kit (AGS) and the battery monitor kit (BMK) ... those are sold separate from the remote.
I really like my BMK, but many here doubt its accuracy. It tracks your battery charge by counting actual amps used and returned, rather than guesstimating based on voltage.
The AGS is intended for built in generators, like an Onan, not portable generators like a Honda.
