If the blade is out of balance, then it can wobble, and cause the failures. You might consider changing the fan blade next time.
How clean is your radiator and fan blade?
You should be washing the radiator with plenty of simple green and a garden hose. Use a chemical sprayer to apply the diluted solution of Simple Green. Let it soak a while, and then spray off with a garden hose. Many times it is difficult to see the dirt in the radiator, and it will cause the engine to run warm, then the fan will kick into high speed more often, leading to more wear on the cooling fan.
While electric fans seem like a 'great idea' your radiator needs a LOT of air flowing through it. My buddy with a 200 HP engine in his Econoline pickup tried electric fans for his 460" engine pickup. It did not work, and the engine overheated. That was a 7,000 pound pickup. While electric fans work great in a 3,500 pound car, and even some 8,000 pound pickups, they are not designed for anything over about 10,000 pounds. The electric fans are just to small.
My buddy had one of JcWhitney's largest 16" diameter fans with a 3,000 CFM rating. It draws about 12 amps or 144 watts. Your hydraulic motor is probably rated at 3 - 8 horsepower, or about 3,000 - 8,000 watts capacity.
