I need to replace an igniter that is no longer made. UPDATE

Spec's

Part number 2933096014
2005 Dometic Fridge RM2454
Prod#9211401-19

Helping a neighbor fix his fridge and I worked it back to a bad igniter. The problem is Dometic no longer supplies this part, and if I do see one on the net, it's way overpriced ($150.)

My plan is to replace the igniter with the following one (note that his model number is not in their list of compatibility.)

Clicky

I can not see why it should not work. Anyone have prior experience with this problem, or any other "useful" tech input.

ASAP noted that they did not know if it would work, and do not take responsibility for the results. Dometic has no input on this problem either.

Thanks in advance.

I really cannot think of a reason it would not work- the rest of the system is the same as units that use the reignitor you listed, and it is wired the same, but it is odd that none of my breakdowns list that as an alternate.

I was hoping you would jump into the mix, thanks once again.

I'm guessing it would be better then OEM. The new one senses when the flame is on and stops the sparking.

My big concern is if there could possible be any damage to the board with the new igniter, because of how things are grounded.

    Thanks again,

  • The ancient Dometic fridge in our "new" 1981 camper has an igniter that was not working, but I found it was covered with soot flakes, so now it works. Before I found that out, I was told at an RV shop that I could rig up one using a BBQ igniter which are not very expensive.
