I went to the Galveston County Fairgrounds last weekend to tag up with a friend that came down from Tyler to attend the Lone Star motorcycle rally. The fairground was turned into a huge campground for the weekend.
There were several different types of generators in operation. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to compare so many different generators in operation at once.
Now I get it. There were two THs with paralleled Honda's. The 1st thing I noticed was that they were just as loud as some of the other smaller open frames BUT they outputted a different, less harsh tone. They do sound different.
There was a FW running what I assume was a propane unit in his basement with the basement doors open. ANNOYING as could be. Loud rattle with a very unpleasant exhaust tone. A class A gasser was just as annoying but a Class A DP had a more appealing tone. It was more of a soft rumble.
My buddy had a Chinese open frame Mustang 2800 he bought at a pawn shop for $100. It was a loud, obnoxious smoking rattle box. I was glad when he shut it down.
I own a Champ 3500/4000 and am pleased with it but never use in a campground. I couldn't justify the cost for two red's. However I now appreciate those that can.
