When idling today's diesel engines, you will load up the exhaust after treatment and will shorten the life of it, particularly the DPF. The DPF requires high operating temperatures to perform it's function, idling does not create the heat required and will plug up causing the system to go into limp mode and most likely a tow to the shop for an expensive fix that is not covered by any warranty.
