If leaving early we idle away quietly as possible then pull to the side of the access road or someplace away from other campers and idle 3-4 minutes with the exhaust brake on and we are ready to pull.
What is confusing to me is why folks idle diesels but not gasohol engines...the modern diesel does not wash it's cylinders with excess fuel, hardly burns enough fuel at idle to create any heat... takes forever to "warm up..."
