Instead of using the controller to power an additional fan to exhaust the compartment:
Attach one of these to the condenser or compressor and run a fused 12 volts through it to the fan.
Snap disc fan control switch
Supposedly, if the controller sees more than .5 amps drawing on the fan circuit, it thinks the fan has failed and shuts down the compressor.
Some forums I've visited also complained of the fan noise. Some users found putting rubber bushings under the condenser helped.
One just found a quieter 92mm fan, which also moves more air than the one which came with it.

My goal is more than adequate airflow through the whole condenser and the controller and compressor bathed in ambient air.
