I ran some tests on mine with an interior fan and found that the amp-hr usage went up a couple of amp-hrs with the fan. I'm not sure why, maybe increased heat transfer through the walls? Anyways, I haven't used it and haven't missed it. Remember that the fridge works best when its loaded up with food. I don't think there's any thermal mass when they're empty and the performance is lower.
I have a wireless thermometer for mine and I adjust the temperature a lot. The thermostat doesn't keep the fridge at a constant temperature, it varies with ambient. I also set it lower during the day when the solar panels are working and higher at night to reduce usage.

P.S. I set my thermostat at around 1/3 of max and it will run at around 38-40F, depending on how warm it is outside.
