Warm air on the compressor is still better than no air, because compressor can get VERY hot. If you can still have both a control block cooling and a compressor cooling with a reversed fan - then go for it. I am not sure that air flow around the control block will reach the compressor. Besides, there will be less flow for condenser, and these compact condensers always have forced cooling from the same fan which tells me that they need it. Maybe adding a fan dedicated to condenser cooling like bdosborn did is the best way - you'll lose neither compressor cooling nor condenser cooling then.
It's the first time I hear that BD compressors are so reliable that it's less important to cool it than a control unit. Even if they are, with reduced cooling you will reduce the efficiency, i.e. increase energy draw.
