THE PARTS ORDER COMMENTS
Cast lugs are expensive. But Mr S Davis part number choice is perfect. With cast lugs, I reinforce the cable and connection with stand off support and Adel style cable clamps. Rubber cushion, aluminum body C clamps.
Silicone GREASE smeared all over an assembled cast clamp before assembly will protect the clamp. With thoughtful use, total coverage of a connector and what it connects to can extend the life of a connection to beyond fifty years. The lug and (copper?) stud it connects to will be shiny when grand kids are grown.
THE SOCKET AND PLUG are perfect. Once assembled, I glop spray bed liner (from Wal-Mart the automotive dept) on the REAR assembly of these connectors. Then I glop more silicone GREASE onto the pins and sockets themselves.
But then, I am extremely lazy. I demand utter reliability with zero maintenance for ten years at a stretch. I say bad words and throw things if I have to return and fix things. This may be a good trait? But the thought of having to return gets my blood boiling.
That work Mr. Davis is doing is going to last a lifetime without problems. It will probably spoil him :) Kudos to joining the Lay Back Lenny maintenance team :)
