Inverter and Charger Inverter

I own a 2000 Beaver Solitaire. The coach has 2 Prosine inverters. The Prosine 3000 is a charger/inverter and keeps the battery bank charged with shore power and when the engine is operating. The Prosine 1800 is a 1800W inverter only. The eelctrical diagram with the coach show the same type of wiring from inverter to battery. Can I change out the Prosine 1800 with a Prosine 2000 Charger/Inverter?

  • Above combiner is fine. Also consider a separate converter for maybe $150/$200.

Actually I am thinking something is missing from the diagram. I just cannot imagine the second set of batteries would not be charged when plugged in or running the generator.

Have you measured battery voltage when plugged in? 13.3+ volts is charging. 12.8 or less is not charging.
  • The reason for the upgrade is to charge the second set of batteries when the coach engine is not being run. The electrical diagram shows that the only way the second set of batteries is charged is during travel. I have just replaced all 14 batteries and want to keep them ready for use.
