Inverter and house Batteries?

I have been having a problem with my inverter, giving off fault code 207, batteries need charging or replaced. I did replace the batteries, with 4 new lifeline, 8d, still have the fault code, having gone through the resetting feature several times, I think now I have to replace the Inverter.
I have the Xantrex 3000 pure sine wave, not in production anymore, now it is a Freedom 3000, and needs a new remote pannel also, help the economy recover, My question is someone had recommened the Magnum Inverter, just wanting advice, is anyone running the Magnum, and with what results? I think they are both about the same price?
Does anyone have a place to purchase to get the best price?

  • To address the Xantrex ve Magnum question I'm switching out my 2000 MSW Xantrex 480 Inverter for a 2000 Prosine Magnum. My inverter is fine but with my residential fridge I want the Prosine. The suggestion to switch brands was from a former Country Coach tech who's currently working on my coach and specializes in electrical systems including Silverleaf. His experience says the new Magnums are better than Xantrex. Also, with Magnum I can get service 30 minutes from my house, if needed.
  • My opinion of Xantrex and the sophistication of its technical support to be the equivalent that

    Enjoyed in the automotive world.

If you have a fault in the wiring, not even a $100,000 inverter is going to work.

IMHO follow the opinion and recommendations of BFL 13, and others and DIAGNOSE the problem. EXACTLY what the problem is.
  • You can get the SW3012 for around $1500, and it will be a direct replacement- plug and play. I have one sitting on the lot right now.

Unless they have changed recently, the Sine Wave Freedom will use the same control panel as the RS3000 (on edit- just make sure you get the Freedom SW 3012 and not just the Freedom SW 3000). If it were me, I would spend $100 on diagnoses and estimate for repair for the old one though.

Chris, I have checked every angle that I can think of 2 different techs have told me the same as xantrex, cost more to repair than to replace, I was hoping someone had been thro this same issue and could up with some good advice.
Magnum wants me to go thro their distributor with no discounts, so far their cost is about 1k more for their 2800watt vs xantrex 3000watt after their previous customer discount of 30%.
    Thats with installation.
Thought someone may have some info on where to purchase the magnum at a better price.

  • Look guys, I am probably the most checkinest person on the planet, I have checked everything at least 25 times did hard resets, if any one has any usable information please speak up.
I had my doubts about the batteries but they were 7yrs old and I was near lifelines mfg plan5, ln all a good time to purchase new batteries, with a tremendous discount.
I thought it was the inverter from the start, did not want to install new lnverter on 7yr old batteries. I still have the old ones, anyone interested?
  • Before somebody takes all your money, you can probably get more help here, but you will need to have some clue about using a meter and what the inverter etc does and does not according to its specs (you do have its manual?)

If you can be very specific and answer the pointed questions with good pointed answers till the problem is pinned down we can get pretty close.

If you are hopeless at all that and need help, then try tech support at Xantrex (not always useful I am sorry to say). Or get an "estimate" or try to get some idea from some RV techs what to do before handing over your wallet to some outfit that "sees you coming."

"The other guys in the park" can often be ignored! :)
