My guess they did NOT plug into a 50A 120VAC outlet, but a 50A 220VAC dryer outlet. If they did they need to be prepared to spend lots of cash fixing the mistake. Happens all the time, but its going to cost to make things right. Assume most anything electrical will be toast.
