I think you need to decide the noise issue in person and not by remote control.

If an older Honda 2000 ran your AC, you have a "Fair chance"a new one will. But not a guarantee. You were likely on the edge, and happened to be lucky in the match up, also you may have only attempted use at lower altitudes where it was easier. You can try again, and hope it all works out , or you could get some extra insurance. All the brands are now pushing an additional couple hundred watts on some variation of their models. Chances are in your case, that couple hundred watts would be a nice little cushion, or it could be just enough to get you by in a few situations. Get what you are comfortable with.

We use Honda inverter generators all the time in construction. We never have to clean the carbs. If running all day, I will use regular gas. If we are only using it for a short period, or nearing the end of using it, I will only put non ethanol gas in it. That goes for any small engines in my opinion.

FWIW:

I've never cleaned the carb on my 30 year old Honda EX650 that we take camping for battery charging.

I use regular ethanol gas in it. It starts on 1st or 2nd pull after sitting "any amount of time" (is sat for ~2 years once, a few years ago, and still started right up). Sometimes I have Stabil in it's gas and sometimes I don't.

I guess even Honda isn't making them like they used to.

If someone is having repeated carb problems with a Honda EU2xxx which are rectified by cleaning, odds are they need to change their maintenance habits (to include fuel stabilizers, carb drain and/or run-dry with fuel cut-off). Without a change, the problem will continue regardless of make and model of generator.

I've never had the need to clean the carb on my 14 year old Honda EU2000 once. I do keep Seafoam in the gas so maybe that's why.

I've never heard of anyone on this forum having to clean their Honda carb frequently.

The original Yamaha inverter generator for RV use was the EF2000is. It is now on sale (originally $900) because it is a closeout item being replaced by the improved Version 2 EF2000isV2. The V2 version outputs 2000 peak watts for a LONGER time than the original before going into overload. That extra peak time will allow many 13K A/C to startup and cycle.

Yamaha also has a new EF2200iS inverter generator that comes equipped with a standard 30 amp RV plug (although a single generator will only output 2200 watts max). It's easily hooked up in parallel with another for a full 30 amp output. It only weighs 55# (like the EF2000isV2) and will run for 10 hours.

All Yamaha inverter generators come with a fuel shutoff valve so that you run the carb dry before storage. No carb cleanout/drainage required.

I too just use non-ethanol gas laced with Stabil. I rarely bother to drain or clean carbs, and have yet to suffer any issues in over 20 years of that practice with lots of little engine operated goodies in the garage. My last Yamaha generator did just fine that way and so far my Champion hasn't complained.

The OP like his Honda so if I were he, I'd opt for the new 2200 and use stabil or seafoam.

I have stopped all carburetor issues by using only non ethanol gas in all my small engines. When traveling and the Honda is being used all the time I will run ethanol gas in it. But last tank before putting away is always non ethanol. If not using for a while I always run the Honda dry, with non ethanol gas.

Ethanol gas has a shelf life up to 90 days, non ethanol up to 1 year!

Get yourself a Honda 2200, has a 121cc motor and a fuel shutoff.

I seriously considered the Champion 3400 Watt Dual Fuel Gas/Propane. All of the Champion inverter generators get really good reviews. I wasn't too sure about how easy it would be to get them serviced, if necessary.
