Inverter gens

My two cents:

Honda's part and dealer network is outstanding. I can get parts for one of their models almost anywhere.

Yamaha's is less, but there is at least one place I can mail order and get parts from.

Champion, I order parts from them. Their CS is excellent.

Other brands are random. You might find that no parts are available for that model, or the same model has a new generation with improvements that are not documented.

In general, 10 years from now, the Honda/Yamaha will still be fixable. The Champion likely will be fine as well. The no-name brands will long since have been sent to the scrapyard.

The gist of it: If money is an issue, buy a Champion 2000 watt model. They are a little bit more than the no-names, but will do the job well.

I have been close to HONDA, Yahama and Kipor generators

The Yahama was at a rally, lots of "People" noise but the 2,000 I could barley hear at low power levels and I know how to listen, at half load it was easier to hear, at full load we could hear it clearly. Only at full load did we have to raise our voices and I was close enough to feel the exhaust hitting my leg.

Honda is 1DB louder per the spec sheet (1db is not significantly different)

The KIPOR was out in open land, not nearly as many people. the sound quality was much different... Overall volume was the same but due to the different quality it was much, much, more annoying. And I was at quite some distance from it.

The Yahama was an EF-2400i by the way. At full idle even I could not hear the 1200i over the people noise, but I could hear the 2400... I am very used to hearing sounds covered by noise by the way. Both professionally and by hobby I talk on and listen to radios.. I'm used to hearing voices covered in noise.

Just to throw more options into the mix, Polaris now makes inverter gens.

X2 on the Champ, and especially if you don't plan to use it all of the time. Had ours a few years now and the only problem I had was quickly resolved via their support folks (not off shore, either!). At half the cost and with a good service record, I couldn't see paying for just a name. IMHO...

Had a minor problem with one of my Honda 2000's. Honda had the parts available and replaced the on/off switch in a few hours at a very small cost. Many hours on my Hondas' now. Still running great. If I needed another one I would go with Honda or Yamaha. Research prices online and make necessary phone calls for best price.

I would check out the Champion next time. Or the Yamaha.

Might as well buy a Mahindra truck or something similar to haul your rv also

And their service record is very very good
