I would typically wire the inverter to the normally closed side of the transfer switch. Turn the inverter on and you have power. Plug in and the transfer switch releases the inverter and passes through utility power.
However some posts indicate the switch may not always be fast enough to prevent the dvd or satellite from reset. In this case you may want to reverse the input so if you have the inverter on it will remain the power source continuously until you turn it off. With inverter off then the utility power will be fed through just like normal.
Worst case you can just change the set up be reversing the inputs.
