1.MrWizard, the CB (circuit breaker?), transfer switch, and OEM circuit will be within 1' or so of each other. The only romex "run" will be from the inverter ~ 15' away.
that doesn't change the arrangement of the wiring
even if you only need a couple of feet of extra romex
it HAS TO be wired the way i explained it
the OEM circuit you want to 'use" has to be disconnect from the CB
and brought out of the breaker service panel and connected to the TS output
NEW wire from the CB now goes to the TS input #1
new romex from inverter goes to TS input #2
the TS switch goes in-between the CB and the OEM wiring going to the outlets
