Hi,
Unless you wish to automate the change over a simple system of male and female plugs will do what you wish. How many items in the RV do you wish to run? How many amp-hours of battery bank do you have?
Right now the trailer has 2 Optima yellow top 12v. There is room for 4 T105 6v in the battery compartment. The Optima's seem kind of lazy amp hour wised compared to the 2x T105 we use in our truck camper. I think they got left connected to parasitic loads in the trailer by the PO last winter before we bought it.
We want a bit of 110 available to charge mobile phones, camera batteries etc. without running the generator. No high amp stuff.
I have a 15amp to 50amp adapter for the shore power connection so an extension cord could work.
I am all for simple. I must be. We used to quiet camp in a self contained boondock unit. Now we have remote control air conditioning... :)
