Does not have a transfer switch
He does not have an on board generator
The relay inside the freedom inverter, is the inverter pass through
If he has shore power it passes thru, to the RV while the charge section , charges the batteries
If no shore power, the inverter is on to make 120vac
Yes it's a relay
But technically the function of a transfer switch is a choose between (2) external power supplies
And a pass thru switch allows power from external source to pass thru
A device capable of creating is own power
I know the functions are similar, but not exactly the same
Calling the inverter pass thru , a "transfer switch"
Creates the type of confusion shown above
His shore cord comes directly into the freedom INVERTER
Not a normal install, but the inverter is built for 30 amp input
Okay so when my inverter/charger is off shore power will not pass through to the coach. I allways that that was odd. Also Literture say's say's no external transfer switch required as it has a 30a transfer switch built in. So if the OP plugs his shore cord into the back of the inverter he won't get 30amps??? At least I wont with mine because it has 4 20a 3 prong plugs Please correct me if I'm wrong. As I'm always trying learn the correct ways these systems operate.
Thanks
