Inverter Swap 1000 for 2000watts

Mr. Wizard I swear i have 14.0 out of the inverter with the shore unplugged and it runs my air conditioning (i will double check now though). Doing this did cause my freedom 20's fan to turn on pretty quick and it was buzzing. The freedom 10 would not run the air conditioning without shore power. I thought this "magical free energy" would be coming from my battery when not plugged in? The control panel is a separate little panel that comes from the unit and shows when I am plugged in, what my battery charge is, how much power I am using etc. It is powered using a simple phone line wire from the freedom and seems to be working in every way except does not show when i am plugged into shore power like it used to. Do you think it could have gotten fried even though the only way it connects is by phone line? There is one on ebay for $35 if so. Here is the ad so you can see it.
