You'll end up losing energy, not making energy.
If you do need an inverter for some loads OTHER than the above idea of charging the battery - use it, and, as Don noted, turn inverter off when not in use. This will conserve a lot of energy.
If you need to spend one night in cold weather, get a space heater and a warm duvet.
