invertor question

I noticed the invertor LED on my Xantrex panel is blinking (less than on blink per second) and the battery charge LED is on (no blinking). The manual I found on line indicates this is normal, and the batteries are charging. I am using shore power. This has been constant for close to 36 hours. What does this mean and what should I do?
  • Thanks for the replies. I discovered the battery cables were not tight; I tightened them, and within minutes the batteries were at, and stay at, full power.
  • What model is it? An inverter takes 12vdc and makes 120vac. Sounds like you are drawing DC (lights, fans etc. from the battery and the Xantrex is replacing (charging) the power they are using.
  • A bit confused as to your concern as this does sound normal. When on shore power, whatever is charging the battreies should run constantly even after the batteries are "topped off". Hopefully it has "intelligent" charging a drops the voltage to a maintenance mode once the batteries are fully charged.
  • Although I don't have the same equipment, I think it sounds normal. Although the indicator shows it is charging, it is actually acting as a converter and powering your 12 volt devices, such as lights and appliances that use 12 volts to function.
