The battery voltage on the more powerful ones may be much higher than a normal lead acid battery.

Just buy a small inverter to run the charger and unplug it when it is fully charged. You can get a small inverter with a lighter plug that should handle the current. Check the wattage on the charger of the vacuum and find a suitable one at an automotive store.
