Champion makes a high-quality 3500 watt NON-inverter gennie with electric start. They also make a 2000-watt inverter gennie that isn't much more money.
I think you made the right choice skipping solar this year, cat or not. Many of the solar experts here are wild-eyed enthusiasts that fail to see that most of their solar energy harvet somes from stringent coservation. If you want to run your RV properly you're going to need a generator.
As said, the NON-inverter gennies are louder than the inverter types, at least when generating small amounts of power. When both generators are wide open they are equally loud.
