Since displacement = torque, and tq x RPM = power, larger (heavier) engines would be needed to cap the inverter gens at a lower rev and keep the output.
OTOH, I would love to see a variable output inverter gen capable of extremely high revs 10k plus like a good motorbike. Package it with a big cap or small lithium batt for surge. Say 2kva continuous and 4k for short periods all in a 50lb package.
