Westend, I didn't even think of that, having multiple small generators! I like the idea, as it allows quietness and also power when needed.
I bought the ex650! For $180.
There's a caveat to that, because my dad, who was with me, said, 'If you change your mind I'll buy it off you.' Otherwise he will borrow it :). He fell in love with its purr. It really does sound great.
It ran my freezer and microwave simultaneously, which surprised me :).
I appreciate the tip about not running the 12v and 120v at the same time. I better put a label on it to remind myself.
I cannot pull start it. This is why I am ambivalent. It is a lovely little machine, but I would have to ask random fellow campers to start it for me. My dad is convinced that I will be like his wife and not want to stay anywhere alone long enough to need a genny. I really don't know. In the past I preferred lone boondocking spots. But for many years I didn't camp much, doing other things in life, and now that I am back to it, I may be older and more cautious... or not.
There was a thread a couple months ago about buying styles, and I said I like to buy things by successive approximation. I like to get something cheap, see how I really use it and what features I wish I had, and then buy something else later.
My cat getting diabetes also factors into the likelihood of extended boondocking.
Whoever said the other day that I use rv.net like social media, not just a tech forum, is right ;).
