For you Onan owners where a rebuild kit is offered: I've used a product similar to this Chemdip for many years. It's necessary to remove all plastic and rubber parts before immersion but some tougher plastics have survived the dip. Separation of the jets from fuel and air passages is also recommended. I have never had a carburetor that is not thoroughly cleaned when using this type of dip cleaner.
BTW, the smell of this cleaner and corrosive effect is about the nastiest on the planet so take precautions when using.
