Not sure what management system there is in drop batteries but in the Elite Power solution LiFePo4 batteries, there is a energy management system. Here is the operation manual (easy read).Explains the system some.pdf document: Starlight EMS Operation Manual.pdf
A standalone BMS with display? Don't want. Probably an overkill, unless this is some big multi-battery bank AND it doesn't have BMS of its own.
What BMS in drop-ins? Who knows... It's meant for over- and under-voltage and temperature protection, plus cells balancing, nothing else. I would trust those circuits in US-made batts like Battle Born. To a lesser degree - brands like Renogy. A no-name battery from Ebay would be toss a coin, both in cells quality and BMS - more like "toss", as in "toss away"...
Lifeblue battery with integrated bluetooth battery monitor is an interesting concept... just nail a smartphone to the wall in convenient location :)... a new company, 10 years in business, their first product line so far... don't know.
PS:
MrWiz, that $400 Chevy battery has no BMS. Not everybody is that tech-savvy. Weighs 40 lbs, btw.
