Keep your RV cover off the ground! - I did not!

Wow, I really screwed up this time!

Replaced the RV cover with a new one from C.W.

Did not think to keep the cover off the ground! We had some warm rain LATE fall, it rained & of course the water did not drain into the FROZEN ground.

Well, Some of the cover is frozen to the ground. No way will I be able to take the cover off w/o ripping my new cover so I guess it will sit right where it's at until spring! Thanks god I can still squeeze thru the door if I need something inside.

Just wanted to let others know about my mistake.

So, remember me next time your putting your cover over your RV. Strap it tight & don't let it get to close to the ground around the tires.

Thanks

  • 3 Your not living in the N.E. where your RV can be covered by 3 feet of snow.

Freezing water can really screw-up a roof.

The first mistake was buying a cover far as I'm concerned, For two reasons I do not cover mine

1: Unless the cover fits like shrink wrap (And the only one that does IS shrink wrap) wind can make the cover move about, if there is any "Grit" under the cover this can sand the finish on your RV and ruin it.

    2: I'm a full timer.
  • Last February I traded a popup for our TT, only problem was the popup was at a remote storage lot. Not only was the cover froze to the ground it was froze to the roof of the popup. Needless to say that cover is in many pieces, and I had to explaine to the salesman why there was a few scraps stuck to the roof till it warmed up. :)

Another one of those simple things you don't think about until it happens to you. I guess another thing that could happen is you can't see if a tire is flat if you can't see them - one flat could be held up by the other on the same side.
