That's a pretty interesting video- Ford closely monitors current and temperature of the battery, and knows the state of charge. It will shut the alternator completely off.
Thanks for the link. Very informative and explains some of what I am observing. I think the charging algorithm my need to be adjusted for vehicles with auto start/stop. My wife's new car will sometimes fail to restart or the system will turn itself off and it seems to be related to low battery voltage.
